Government needs to help people through the cost of living crisis says Northumberland Labour

Northumberland Labour says if the government is serious about helping people through the cost of living crisis it will need more than financial sticking plasters.

Leader Scott Dickinson said: “Of course the Chancellor’s package is welcome and it will help. However it’s ironic that the Chancellor, in his bid to become the next Prime Minister, says he’ll fix the economy. He’s been in charge of the public purse and able to influence the economy for some time and we haven’t seen it fixed, so you can’t hold out much hope can you?”

“Labour want to stimulate the economy, and help climate change at the same time, by insulating homes. This will create jobs and make our homes cleaner and greener. We also want to cut the red tape left by Brexit and make, sell and buy more in Britain. Labour also believes that cutting business rates now will help struggling firms and energy intensive industries.

“None of this is rocket science; it’s just a common sense way of making life safer, greener and cleaner for everyone.”
