Retained EU Law Bill a threat to people’s livelihoods
Northumbrians need to have their lives and livelihoods protected from Tory recklessness, says Northumberland Labour
Northumberland Labour says the government’s Retained EU Law Bill threatens hard-fought rights at work, the environment and hard-won equal rights.
Leader Scott Dickinson said: “Labour will work tirelessly to ensure the baby is not thrown out with the bathwater on this Bill.
“The UK has left the EU but that does not mean it should go backwards in protecting people’s rights at work, progress on the environment and equal rights.
“Left to Conservatives like Jacob Rees-Mogg, we’d be heading back to the Victorian era of few holidays and no redress when something goes wrong at work.
“In so many areas, such as housing, energy and pay, this is where we’re being taken by this government which lacks ambition for the majority of people in this country.
“Labour is committed to making Britain vibrant and thriving, taking the best of what we learned during our time in Europe and using it to make this country the envy of the world again.”
