People deserve better, says Northumberland Labour
People deserve better after 13 years of a Tory government, says Northumberland Labour.
Leader Scott Dickinson said: “We’ve had over a decade of people’s living standards being eroded while a few of the very rich get richer. And now, at the start of the autumn school terms we’re discovering faults in concrete, which the government has known about for years, affecting children, teachers and support staff right at the start of the school year.
“This is over 10 years of not putting people first. In so many areas things are coming home to roost; industrial unrest like we’ve not seen in generations, hospital waiting times and lists out of control, more and more people relying on foodbanks, people not feeling safe on the streets, a cost of living crisis, a lack of clean, green affordable housing and now schools and public buildings that aren’t fit for purpose.
“Make no mistake about it, these are political choices. If you put your own politics ahead of the needs of the people you’re supposed to be serving this is what you get.”
A Labour government will:
Secure the highest sustained growth in the G7
Make Britain a clean energy superpower
Build an NHS fit for the future
Break down the barriers to opportunity at every stage
Make Britain’s streets safe
