Northumberland Labour welcomes delays to rail schedule changes

Northumberland Labour has today welcomes the delay to rail schedule changes which has been prosed to be introduced from next year.

Northumberland Labour leader Scott Dickinson said: “We’re pleased that LNER has listened to concerns and is proposing to now delay the proposed changes which would significantly reduce the number of service stopping at many of Northumberland’s stations.

“It does make you wonder if they’d listened before this ridiculous proposal was made; they might have saved themselves a lot of embarrassment and trouble.

“We would politely suggest that they engage with people before they go around making these silly plans. Rail services are supposed to serve the people who live in and visit the area.

“LNER scored a bit of an own goal there. I hope they have learned their lesson.”
