Labour, that party that’s on your side
Northumberland Labour is urging people up and down the country to send a strong message to the Conservatives who have let people down, time and time again.
Northumberland Labour leader Scott Dickinson said: “The so-called party of low taxes has put taxes up twice; the latest being the hike in National Insurance, taxing people further at a time when they can least afford it.
“Fuel and energy, food, clothing and housing costs are spiralling out of control and while this government seems to have a lot of meetings about the cost of living, nothing comes out of it.
“They could have levied a windfall tax on the energy suppliers; they chose not to.
“They could have delayed the rise in national Insurance; they chose not to.
“They could have protected the £20 rise in Universal Credit; they chose not to.
“They could do much more to insulate homes to keep energy bills down; they chose not to.
“They could have an emergency budget to make and immediate difference to people’s cost of living; They’re choosing not to.
“If governments want to take action to protect people from rises in the cost of living they can; this government chooses not to.
“Make no mistake that this government and the Conservatives are not on your side. But Labour is, so we’d urge people to use their vote and use it wisely on 5 May.”
