Keep 1.5 alive is vital for humanity and the planet, say Labour
As COP 26 enters its second week Labour is setting out its five point plan to keep the climate action, particularly limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees, on track.
It’s five point plan says the country must:
lead by example by ensuring climate action starts at home with investment to both protect the planet and secure green jobs in the UK
support the most vulnerable by reversing the overseas aid cuts
pressure the big polluters, phase out fossils fuels and ensuring transition to greener jobs
protect nature by ending deforestation and ensuring all new schemes have a net zero effect on the climate
use private investment to tackle climate action
Northumberland Labour leader Scott Dickinson said: “Climate action is about saving us, not just saving the planet. We as individuals can and must do our bit but, important as that it, governments can invest huge resources and develop policies to make massive changes.
“Labour pledges to make green investments for the rest of the decade and make it our mission to insulate every home that needs it, cutting bills in the process.”
