Criticism total hypocrisy in astonishing comments from a Tory administration that set council tax so

Labour Councillors in Northumberland have hit out at the hypocrisy of the Conservatives in Northumberland calling themselves generous when supporting residents with Council Tax. Labour have pointed out that the staggering increases applied to residents across Northumberland by Glen Sanderson have led to more and more families needing help. Food banks, support schemes, reduced cost food, crisis requests for utilities are all at an all-time high. Many families pushed over the breadline by the disastrous decisions of this Administration so to criticise others doing far more and keeping Council Tax lower is a crazy attempt to mislead the public.

Scott Dickinson MBE the Leader of Labour in Northumberland said: “We have consistently voted against the huge rises the Tories have implemented, causing harm to families and of course the rate of support needs to be higher in Northumberland because they have made the Council Tax one of the highest in the entire UK.

“To suggest neighbouring authorities who charge far less and deliver for residents are not doing their best would be laughable if it wasn’t so serious and so far from the truth.”

Northumberland Labour also point to the fact that all local Councils surrounding Northumberland pay less in Council Tax than Northumberland where Councils such as North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Sunderland, Newcastle, Gateshead all good Labour authorities who have support schemes and far lower Council Tax.
