Britain has to work for everyone, says Labour

Northumberland Labour says a Labour government must be a government that works for everyone.

Labour group leader Scott Dickinson said: “In a week where there have been allegations of betting at a senior political level on whether people seeking asylum will go to Rwanda and unrest and impossibly long queues for people to gain access to a dentist, we’ve seen proof, if proof were needed, the government is out of touch and has scant regard for the people it is supposed to be serving.

“I am looking forward to a government which will uphold high standards of behaviour and put the people it is serving first. If Labour gets into power in Northumberland, I will personally pledge to ensure leaders uphold the highest standards of behaviour and put the people of Northumberland first.”

Labour’s five pledges are:

Get Britain building again with 1.5 million more homes built in five years, and first-time buyers given first dibs on new homes in their local area

Switch on Great British Energy with a new British company giving us cheaper bills, new high-paid jobs and energy security

Get the NHS back on its feet by cutting waiting lists, delivering out-of-hours treatment and the doctors, nurses and technology (double the number of scanners) it needs so your family can get faster treatment

Take back our streets from gangs, drug dealers, and flytippers with stronger policing, guaranteed patrols in town centres and more criminals put behind bars

Break down the barriers to opportunity with more specialist teachers, a modern curriculum, and better training and apprenticeships (new technical excellence colleges), so that every young person is ready for work and ready for life
