Coquet Shorebase Trust – Improvements to facilities.

Coquet Shorebase Trust members gave a big ‘thumbs up!’ to our amazing new tarmac access ramp at Druridge Bay Country Park. Thanks to the generosity of the Ventient Sisters North Steads Windfarm Community Benefit Fund, Sport England, the Ridley Family Charity, Northumberland CC Community Chest and Cllr Dickinson, enough money was raised to lay tarmac in our boat compound and down to the lake

Wheelchair user Ali Melia was delighted to find that she can now get up the ramp without assistance, and wheeling boats up is going to be much easier and safer for everyone now that the previous surface of loose stone has been replaced.

The Trust’s aim is to provide affordable watersports for everyone and we particularly aim to meet the needs of the local community. The Windfarm Fund has been very supportive; funding sessions for the local first schools and a free Saturday morning Club for children living within 5 km of the Windfarms.

We look forward to seeing more of you down on the water this summer – come and hire a canoe or have a taster session in a sailing boat – or learn to paddleboard – it’s all on your doorstep. We have specialist equipment to meet the needs of those with disabilities, so no excuse not to give it a try.
