This needs sorting

This needs sorting Avala Park care home in Widdrington is a total eyesore. Since it was closed by its owner HC1 nearly six years ago it has been a target for vandals and thieves. We’ve seen the building stripped of copper, bathroom fittings and cables. While it’s fenced off and boarded up it’s still a temptation. Derelict buildings are fire risks. We saw that in a derelict pub some years ago and now we’ve seen a fire at the care home. The site was earmarked for development but we’ve seen no progress and the whole place is getting worse and worse. I’ve been pressing for something to be done with this site for some time. While I’ve worked with the council’s enforcement team to have the building secured on previous occasions this is not a long term solution. It needs sorting out once and for all. I hope the current owners will progress work with speed.
