Little Miracles supported by Community

Today with great privilege Scott Dickinson and Rose Hudspith attended the Little Miracles session at Ashington Children's Centre supported by Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and the wonderful Community Nursery Nurse Sandra Dickinson (no relation to Scott although her husband did teach him). To give the money raised at the recent NHS @ 70 Birthday Party organised by Hadston House and members from the Druridge Bay Labour Party. Scott, Local Councillor and Director at Hadston House said: "It is always a privilege to represent my community, but taking funds they worked hard to raise over to something so special was just great. I knew of Little Miracles following the use of the service by some local parents, apart from that I didn't know much. "After today that has totally changed, spending some time with the families and playing with some of the children made me realise how special this place is. I will ensure that Hadston House and our community continue to support this service as much as we can." Hadston House project officer Rose said: "it was a very special visit and something we were very proud of, the community came together to raise that money and it will be enjoyed by many." Susan Dickinson Community Nursery Nurse with Northumbria Healthcare said: "Thank you so much for visiting our group today, our parents really appreciate it when outside professionals take an interest in their children and the daily struggles they face, everyday life for the children and their families can and is for a number of them very challenging and stressful. The donation we have received today will go towards our Christmas Party ." The AIMS of Little Miricals Our aim is to support families who have children with additional and nursing needs in a safe nurturing environment where they can feel comfortable and get the support they need. Our group offers practical support which meets the individual needs of each child and their family. The group supports parents/cares in promoting their child’s overall development. The group aims to build confidence and encourages socialisation for both parent and child. Many of the children who attend our group have severe complex health needs and life limiting conditions and many of the families who attend it is an important part of their social network. Our group has no designated funding, trips and outings for the families are funded by donations and fundraising events. The Little Miracles Ashington has their own private website where parents support each other and gather relevant information on a daily basis. Our group runs within Ashington Children’s every Thursday. Professionals from other agencies link in to the group as required, access to other support networks is available to all families.
