Play in Hadston will not be stopped by the Tories

ZIP WIRE OPEN So today despite the dreadful attempt of the Tories at County Hall to stop play in Hadston we managed to open a new piece of equipment for children to enjoy and they did with immediate effect!! This little lads face is what its all about, pleased to see someone enjoying it immediately. Local people will remember the consultation carried out by the then Labour County Council and a master plan shared to create a park facility for the community to enjoy. We wanted to go some way to replacing the school torn down by the then Libdem/Tory Council leaving a big hole in the village. Unfortunately, soon after the Conservatives took power most areas including ours had all plans stopped, contractors were taken off site and projects halted. No explination given other than Tory Councillors deciding to scrap plans in areas they didn’t believe deserved anything. Local people elected, for the second time a strong Councillor, knowing someone like me was never going to just walk away from the project nor let our area be bullied. So, I pulled together money to get one bit of equipment, the bit favoured most by the children and families who had participated in the consultation. It took bloody sweat and tears to get together but we did it and today we opened it for people to enjoy. I will continue to pursue facilities for my area in the face of Tory discrimination and bullying and I will not be pushed around or have the people who elected me left wanting because they don’t come from the right area in the eyes of the Tories. I’ve lived here all my life and love the place and the people, never will I not give it 100% !!! Anyway ENJOY everyone !!!!
