Notice Served by Secretary of State on Northumberland Tories for not having a Plan !!!

Notice Served by Secretary of state for Communities on Northumberland for not having a plan.

It’s been well documented over recent weeks that Labour Councillors opposed the removal of the Core Strategy, a document built over 10 yrs to help shape the developments in Northumberland.

It would seem today the Conservative Communities Secretary Sajid Javid also believes this is wrong and served notice on Northumberland for not having a plan in place which leads to “speculative development”.

In his statement today, the Conservative Secretary of State lists his actions taken against authorities that have failed to produce a local plan asking how they expect to meet the needs of their residents.

15 authorities were listed as having notice served on them including Northumberland.

In his statement he said: “Without a local plan in place it can mean uncertainty for local people and piecemeal speculative housing development. It can also mean the right investment in local infrastructure isn’t made.”

Cllr Scott Dickinson Chair of the Labour Group said:

“Northumberland Labour Group voted against the removal, listing a whole range of key issues and these have even been supported by the Secretary of State who has now served notice on Northumberland County Council”

“It’s a complete mess, the Tories were warned of a free for all, of communities being taken advantage of and developers having no guidance to work from. The Tories in Northumberland have managed to create a massive embarrassing error"

"Northumberland Communities will take the brunt of the clear lack of understanding that exists about running a Council”

“To think where the Council has come from to the position it has quickly been plummeted in to by the actions of an inexperienced bunch of politicians who wouldn’t listen to advice from others is stark. I am sure Northumberland residents are rightly concerned and we know the fix to this isn’t likely until 2020. By then Northumberland could just be a concrete County”.
