Councillor works to further improve path network in Druridge Bay Ward

Over recent years Cllr Scott Dickinson has worked hard to install dropped kerbs and resurface paths in the worst state.

He’s worked hard to have some paths resurfaced making it easier for residents with walking aids, parents with pushchairs and just residents in general.

The main walking route from Hadston to Broomhill First School was recently refurbished to ensure parents and children has a safe path to walk everyday. “Older people used this path to connect between the villages on scooters too” he said.

He’s worked to get dropped kerbs installed on estates in Widdrington and Hadston where bungalows are to start with.

Now he’s been working with residents and Parish Councillors to identify new spots where residents have issues connecting between paths with scooters, prams and walkers often leading to amenities including doctors surgeries in the villages.

The new identified locations will receive dropped kerbs over the next few months.

Cllr Dickinson said: “its important, its the small things that often count the most. If your already living with a disability or have reach the age where you need something to help you stay mobile I want to make sure path networks are connectable.”

“After listening to residents and working with them some bizarre situations were in existence and we’ve tackled some of them and now I will proceed with more”.

“I will be allocating the funding required from the ward budget and ensuring equal share is given to Widdrington and Hadston”.

“I know it’s not perfect and we’ve done a lot over recent years to tackle the lack of investment over many years by the previous Tory Councillor”.
