Hadston Park Update
HADSTON PARK UPDATE
This was us a few months ago meeting with the Council officers and appointed contractor to discuss the works for the Hadston Park improvement. Supported by the Parish Council we worked over a number of months to hold workshops and events for members of the community to participate. The final consultation took place in March and the plans published. This happened over an 18month period and thank you again to all the members of the community who took time to participate. This was proposed to create a community space on the area that was formally Druridge Bay Middle School that the Libdem/Tory administration pulled down. It was trying to fulfil a promise made by them during public meetings to ensure the space had something for the community once the School had gone. They didn't provided anything so we were attempting to put that right for the community. Play facilities for a community that has grown and has lack of facilities for play have always been identified by the community as need. The community became rightly excited, youth clubs and others became involved and passionately participated to make sure young people's views were heard. Now we have a Tory administration deciding on the future of the park. Work has stopped and nothing seems to be progressing anywhere in the County apart from Ponteland. The timescales previously announced will obviously not now be met. What happens next nobody knows......I will of course continue to fight for the best deal for the communities I represent. I will keep you all posted.
