Scott's statement on the General Election
What does this mean locally ?
Well, we have had a failed Libdem who then vanished, we had heard talk of a come back in the local elections but......it didn't come off. So who will they choose in coming weeks ?
We have the Conservative MP who stole the seat from the Libdems and then became the most unpopular MP in the shortest space of time. Failure to deliver on the A1 being one of the biggest cons of that election.......
Meanwhile I, the local Labour Parliamentary Candidate of 2015 is thinking this could be a historic opportunity. Interesting times, more experienced and learned from mistakes in the first run out in national politics but I still managed to increase the vote. Anyway more of an update to follow as this starts to unfold..........
The Labour Leader is upbeat and ready.......
Jeremy Corbyn said: "I welcome the Prime Minister’s decision to give the British people the chance to vote for a government that will put the interests of the majority first.
Labour will be offering the country an effective alternative to a government that has failed to rebuild the economy, delivered falling living standards and damaging cuts to our schools and NHS.
In the last couple of weeks, Labour has set out policies that offer a clear and credible choice for the country. We look forward to showing how Labour will stand up for the people of Britain."
