Across Northumberland Headteachers are concerned about CUTS from the Conservative Government to their school budgets.
The Council has had one of the biggest Capital Investment Schemes in the UK delivered by Labour Northumberland County Council. Well done to them for caring about childrens futures, I'm proud to be part of the team who delivered that.
At the same time day to day funding is being slashed by the Government who fund per pupil, schools in Northumberland are often small and rural. They will be unduly targeted by cuts and we may see many more close, class sizes get larger and fewer teachers in Northumberland.
We urge that the Government listen to Northumberland Headteachers. We don't want to see more scenes like recent weeks in Hexham where Heads are pleading with parents for donations for basic school equipment. Invest in our children's futures like the Labour run Council has by ensuring that the new schools they've built are funded properly and the Heads have the money they need.
