TORY £80MILL FAKE ELECTION NEWS AS COUNCIL HQ IS BEING BUILT AND SAVING MONEY - FACT
So it has been widley spread that the Tories claim Labour are "wasting" £80million on a new HQ in Ashington.
This is a LIE !! The County Hall move is a tiny little part of the Market Town Initiative that breathes life in to the Towns and gives them the investment they need.
The contract has already been let and the building is being built. - here's an article stating: CLICK HERE
The Councils Chief Officer has also had to tell them on several occasions that they are using INCORRECT figures and MISLEADING the public heres an extract from the minutes of a full Council meeting.
Remember the truth of the matter is:
1) The Contract has been let and was priced at £32million which has been covered in terms of capital receipts.
2) The move has been through the Council process and cannot be stopped the decision was taken by Council in the proper way. Hundreds of thousands would be wasted challenging the decision and removing contracts from the people currently building it.
3) The scheme has been checked by the Government Auditors who say it provides a SAVING of £16million that the Council can spend on vital services.
4) It frees up the land for a New School in Morpeth
5) It supports the regeneration of Ashington while also supporting all the Market Towns in Northumberland.
It really is as simple as that.............this is all in the context of the Conservative Government cutting £200million from the Council's budget and dramatic decisions are needed to fill the gap, this being one of them.
Attempting to stop the move would:
1) Stop all the investment in Alnwick, Bedlington, Prudhoe, Blyth, Hexham, Berwick, Cramlington, Amble and all the other smaller settlements.
2) Stop the New School in Morpeth
3) Stop the New Leisure Centers in Blyth, Berwick and Morpeth
4) Put the Council financially at more risk than under the slash and burn approach from the Government.
We could go on and on..............its a central part of the Market Town Initiative.
Remember it wasn't that long ago they said it was £40million which was also untrue.
Don't listen to the election LIES it would seem anything goes in election time.....apart from the FACTS.
