Stobswood Welfare supported


Local recreation centre set for improvements thanks to council funding Northumberland County Council have secured funding for Stobswood Welfare Recreation Club in Morpeth towards a much needed refurbishment.

Stobswood Welfare centre are set to receive over £9,000 from Northumberland County Council’s welfare fund along with additional funds from Councillor Scott Dickinson’s small scheme’s funding, all of which will all go towards a refurbishment for the centre.

After recently suffering internal water damage as a result of a faulty roof, the recreation centre are turning their attention to the internal repairs required since repairing the roof.

The funding received from the council will go towards repairing walls, replacing carpets and ceilings along with new furniture and a new LED lighting system which will also help towards lowering utility costs.

Councillor Scott Dickinson said: “It is fantastic to see Stobswood Welfare Recreation Club receiving funding towards their refurbishment. The centre is widely used by a number of groups and the refurbishment will have a great benefit for the local community.“

Kevin Batson Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Stobswood Recreation Club, said: “The funding we receive is crucial towards redeveloping the club following the water damage. The club is central to the community and this refurbishment will mean that we can improve the facilities for all those who use the club.”
